Change your iPhone's location without a computer

The short version

1. Install Geovo on a Mac or Windows PC and plug in your iPhone once.
2. Geovo installs its iPhone app, signed with your own Apple ID.
3. On the iPhone, turn on the free LocalDevVPN helper.
4. Unplug. Pick a place on the iPhone and tap Teleport. It keeps working on Wi-Fi, on cellular, and stays put in Airplane Mode.
5. Every 7 days, plug back in and click Renew.

Why a computer is needed at all

Apple doesn't allow location-simulation apps in the App Store. So Geovo installs the iPhone app the way developers put their own apps on their phones: signed with your Apple ID, from your computer. During that setup, the computer also pairs with the iPhone and gives the app what it needs to reach the phone's developer location service later, on its own.

Your Apple ID goes only to Apple for that install. Geovo never stores it.

How LocalDevVPN fits in

When the iPhone is plugged in, Geovo talks to the phone's built-in developer service over the cable. With no cable, the Geovo app needs to reach that same service on the phone itself, and iOS only allows that over a network connection.

LocalDevVPN is a small, free App Store app from a separate developer that creates a tiny private network inside your iPhone. It uses iOS's VPN feature because that's the only way to create that on-device connection, but it is not a VPN in the usual sense:

• It doesn't carry your internet traffic, change your IP address or send anything anywhere.
• Your browsing and other apps work exactly as before.
• You'll see a small VPN icon in the status bar while it's on. That's expected.

Set it up, step by step

1. Download Geovo for Mac or Windows and open it. On Windows, install iTunes from apple.com first for Apple's driver.
2. Plug in your iPhone, unlock it and tap Trust.
3. Turn on Developer Mode: Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode. The iPhone restarts once.
4. In Geovo, click Install Geovo on iPhone and sign in with your Apple ID.
5. On the iPhone, open Settings › General › VPN & Device Management, tap your Apple ID and tap Trust.
6. Open Geovo on the iPhone and tap Start the Helper. That installs and connects LocalDevVPN.
7. Unplug, search for a place, and tap Teleport.

What works on the iPhone app

• Teleport by searching or tapping the map.
• Routes at walking, cycling or driving speed.
• Joystick, saved places, recents and schedules.
• An always-available Return to Real Location.
• Works on Wi-Fi and cellular, and holds its place in Airplane Mode. See cellular and Airplane Mode.

Limits, honestly

• Renew every 7 days. That's Apple's rule for apps installed with a free Apple ID, not ours. Renewing takes about a minute and keeps your places. Why it's 7 days.
• The helper must be on. If LocalDevVPN is switched off, Geovo tells you and opens it so you can reconnect.
• Sessions can end. If you force-quit Geovo, restart the iPhone, or run out of your free daily minutes, the location returns to your real one. Open Geovo and start again.
• GPS only. Your IP address, carrier and time zone don't change.
• iOS 17 or later, verified on iOS 26.

"No computer at all" claims

Any tool that changes an iPhone's location without a jailbreak needs a computer at least once, to install and pair. Some tools re-sign the app on the phone itself; Geovo currently renews from your computer. Compare options side by side on our alternatives page.

Privacy
