For developers and QA
Test location features on a real iPhone
The iOS Simulator and Xcode's location tools are great while you're writing code. For QA, demos and end-to-end checks on real hardware, Geovo lets anyone on the team put an iPhone anywhere, move it along a route at a realistic speed, and replay the same GPX run tomorrow.

Why test on a real iPhone
The Simulator is fast, but location features often behave differently on hardware: permission prompts and precise versus approximate location, background updates, region monitoring and geofences, battery-driven throttling, and how your app hands off to Apple Maps or other apps. Release and TestFlight builds matter too, and those aren't running under a debugger.
Xcode can simulate location on a device while it's debugging your app. Geovo works on the whole phone, for any build, and doesn't need Xcode, a Mac or an app project, so QA, product and support can reproduce a location bug on Windows or Mac.
Workflows that work well
Geofence entry and exit. Save points just inside and just outside a fence as saved places, then teleport between them to fire entry and exit events. For a gentler approach, play a walking route across the boundary.
Tracking and navigation. Draw a route along real roads and play it at walking, cycling or driving speed. Useful for fitness tracking, delivery and ride-hail status screens, trip logging, and anything that reads speed or course.
Repeatable runs with GPX. Import a GPX file to replay the same path every time, or export a route you drew in Geovo and share it with the team. GPX is also the format Xcode uses for simulated routes, so one file can serve both.
Timed tests. Use schedules to start a teleport or a route at a set time while Geovo is running, for example to line up with a test run or a scheduled notification.
Regional content. Teleport to other cities to check store locators, maps, localized listings and "near you" features in your own app or website. Remember that Geovo changes GPS only: logic based on IP address, carrier or device region won't follow, so use your backend's own test overrides for those.
Demos and screenshots. Record a walkthrough of a location feature in the right city without leaving your desk.
Your own devices. Check how location sharing between your own test iPhones behaves. Features that combine GPS with other signals may not follow a simulated position consistently, so treat results as specific to that iOS version.
Things to know as a developer
- Apple lets apps ask whether a location came from software simulation (CLLocation.sourceInformation, iOS 15+). Whether it's set can depend on the method and iOS version. If your app reads it, test both paths deliberately; Geovo doesn't try to hide simulation.
- Simulation uses Apple's developer location service, so the test iPhone needs Developer Mode and iOS 17 or later. We've verified iOS 26.
- Return to Real Location is always one click away, and restarting the iPhone always restores real GPS, so a test device never stays "somewhere else" by accident.
- An auto-stop timer hands the phone back to its real location by itself after a set time.
- Geovo is iPhone only. It doesn't support Android devices.
Set up a test iPhone
- Download Geovo on a Mac or Windows PC (Windows needs iTunes from apple.com for Apple's driver).
- Plug in the test iPhone, tap Trust, and turn on Developer Mode.
- Search for a place or click the map, and Teleport. Or draw a route, or import a GPX file.
- Optional: install the Geovo iPhone app so testers can change location with the phone unplugged, on Wi-Fi or cellular. It's installed with an Apple ID and renewed from the computer every 7 days. See without a computer.
Privacy for your test data
Coordinates you use never leave your devices. Geovo's server knows the account email, the plan and the minutes used, nothing about where you simulate.
Pricing for testing
Every feature, including routes, joystick and GPX, is available free for 30 minutes every day, which covers a lot of spot checks. For longer sessions, Pro is unlimited from $3.99/week, handy for a single release cycle, or $24.99 for 3 months. See pricing.

Frequently asked questions
- How is this different from Xcode's Simulate Location?
- Xcode simulates location for the app you're debugging, from a Mac. Geovo simulates location for the whole iPhone, for any build including TestFlight and release, from a Mac or Windows PC or on the iPhone itself, with a map, routes and a joystick.
- Can I use the same GPX files as Xcode?
- Geovo imports and exports GPX, the same format Xcode uses for simulated routes, so you can share routes between the two.
- Can I test geofences with Geovo?
- Yes. Teleport between saved points inside and outside a region, or play a route across the boundary at walking or driving speed, to trigger entry and exit events on a real device.
- Does it change the IP address for geo-IP testing?
- No. Geovo changes GPS only. For logic based on IP address or carrier, use your backend's own test overrides.
- Does Geovo work with Android test devices?
- No. Geovo supports iPhone only.
