Where Vanish is ahead
- On-phone renewal. Vanish says Vanish Mobile renews itself from inside the app. Geovo's iPhone app is renewed from your computer every 7 days, which takes about a minute but does mean plugging in.
- iPad. Vanish lists iPad support. Geovo is built and tested for iPhone.
- Lifetime price. Vanish's lifetime plan ($84.99) costs less than Geovo's ($99.99).
- Desktop-only plans. If you never want the iPhone app, Vanish offers cheaper desktop-only pricing.
Where Geovo is ahead
- Joystick and GPX. Geovo has a joystick (on-screen or arrow keys) and GPX import and export for repeatable routes. We couldn't find either on Vanish's site.
- Lower subscription prices with the iPhone app. Weekly, monthly and yearly plans cost less on Geovo, and the weekly plan is billed weekly.
- A 3-month plan at $24.99, if a year is too long.
- Apple Maps on Mac, so search and places match your iPhone.
- A clear daily free allowance. 30 minutes every day, every feature, so you can decide before you pay.
Where they're the same
Both use Apple's developer location service, so neither needs a jailbreak. Both install the iPhone app with your own Apple ID and say your Apple ID goes only to Apple. - Choose Vanish if you want the iPhone app to renew on the phone, you use an iPad, or you want the cheapest lifetime licence.
